Account brief

## What to know

**Build an inventory-stage map**

Seeds, genetics, clones, inputs, and packaging

**Ownership and value need evidence**

Physical possession does not always identify who owns the property or bears the risk of loss.

**Interruption is a separate question**

Replacing damaged material may not restore the income stream.

## Build an inventory-stage map

- Seeds, genetics, clones, inputs, and packaging

- Plants by growth stage, biomass, and harvested material

- Work in process, bulk extract, and ingredients

- Finished products by format, batch, location, and jurisdiction

- Consigned, customer, or other third-party goods

- Goods in transit, off site, or concentrated at a dependent location

## Ownership and value need evidence

Connect the inventory schedule to the named insureds, entity chart, contracts, title-transfer terms, locations, average and peak values, valuation method, and records available after a loss.

## Interruption is a separate question

Explain critical utilities, equipment, suppliers, laboratories, biological or production lead time, alternate capacity, testing, licensing, and customer dependencies.

## Test the schedule with one loss scenario

Assume a critical room, processing line, warehouse, or third-party location becomes unavailable on the day values peak. Trace the affected property by owner and stage, then identify what can be purchased immediately, what must be grown or produced again, which licenses or laboratories are required, and which records would survive.

The exercise can expose a hidden concentration, a third-party ownership issue, an unsupported valuation method, or a restart dependency. It also gives the broker a concrete way to explain why the schedule is organized as it is.

## Give the broker a schedule that can be tested

Report average and peak values by stage, owner, and location, and identify the records used to support them. If values move significantly during a growth, production, harvest, distribution, or sales cycle, explain when and why the concentration changes.

Then choose a material loss scenario and trace what would be damaged, what could be replaced, what must be grown or produced again, which dependencies would delay restart, and which records would remain available after the event.

- Separate property owned by the insured from consigned or third-party goods

- Identify inventory in transit, off site, or concentrated with a dependent party

- Connect valuation methods to the stage and records available

- Describe lead time, testing, licensing, supplier, and equipment dependencies
